I, too, read the Hatrack River Trilogy, and then went beyond, to finish six of the seven Alvin Maker Books. Your intuition about the rest of the series is correct. I quit after six books, because they continued to veer more and more closely to Mormon mythology/theology, without actually clarifying anything. I *am* glad I read the first three books, and recommend them for the many talents Card shows as a writer, for the alternate history view of early American history, and for Card's wonderful ability to tell an engaging story.
