Happy 1st Birthday, Blog!

Update: Please note revised contest end date.

This past year has just flown by, and I have just had so much fun blogging. I've read so many good books, "met" many new fellow bloggers, and have just generally really enjoyed having a venue to share my thoughts. Thank you so much to all of my readers. It just amazes me that people - some of whom I have never met - take the time to read what I write. Writing has been a secret hobby of mine for some time and I have just loved having an audience for what I write.

In honor of the big day, I'd like to have a special giveaway. Choose any book* that I have reviewed in the past year, tell me why you chose it, and I will pick one reader who will win that book!** Contest is open until August 18 26th. Be sure to read all the fine print and let me know if you have any questions.

* Fine print: max value $30. Sorry, but there's just no way I can afford to spend more, and I know some of the architecture books I've featured sell for well over that amount.
** More fine print: Most likely, I will send the winner an Amazon gift certificate for the value of the book plus $3.99 for standard US shipping. This contest is open to anyone, but you will have to pay for any shipping above that amount.

  2. Oops...forgot to tell you WHY I chose The Hunger Games....everyone has given it fantastic reviews. The storyline is different from anything that I have read in the past, so I would be "branching out" my reading genres. :)

  3. I might have to say 'The 19th Wife' as I have an interest in Polygomy and how they live their lives. I've watched Big Love until we had HBO no longer. I miss watching that show!

  5. Happy Blogiversary!!

It would be cool to get my hands on I love it when you talk retro . I'm always facinated on the origin of words. Even tortured myself with Latin in college to that end!! Didn't help as much as I thought it would.

    LOL

  6. Aww happy blogaversary! I've no idea how to spell that since it's not really a word haha :)

I would choose The Hunger Games or Never Let Me Go. You make them both sound great! I've read THG and loved it and would really like to win a copy for one of my best friends. I know she'd love it but there's just no way I can let her borrow my copy. She's terrible with books! I love her like a sister but gosh I can't let her near my books ;) I've never read Never Let Me Go and it sounds really amazing, you said you highly recommend it so I'm definitely curious about it. I can't decide which of the two to pick though. I'll be forced to choose if I win, but I doubt I will hehe :)

Thanks! And happy blog birthday again :D

  7. Well, given the encouragement, I went and looked through your book reviews--so many! so that I could enter your giveaway. I had a tough time choosing, but I finally settled on Agent to the Stars by John Scalzi, because it sounded both fun and thought-provoking and because I don't have enough sci fi in my life. My email is toepfer blue (one word) at gmail dot com.

    Happy blogoversary!

  8. I would love a copy of Medicus because I am fascinated by ancient Rome and Ruso sounds like a very interesting guy. Plus someone gave me a copy of the second in the series but I don’t want to read it until I have read this one. Thanks!

  10. How'd I miss this post?? Happy Blogoversary!!

If I'm still eligible (it IS the 26th), I'd love to read The Hunger Games--I need something a little darker (I hope!) to offset all the fluffy romances I've been reading lately)...
